New Lothrop school board agenda listed 10 staff moves, superintendent extension
The July 20 agenda for the New Lothrop Area Public Schools board included four resignations, eight hires, a non-homestead tax levy vote and a one-year contract extension for the superintendent.
The New Lothrop Area Public Schools Board of Education met July 20 at 6 p.m. in the High School Media Center, according to the agenda posted by the district. The agenda listed a long slate of personnel actions, curriculum purchases and a one-year contract extension for the superintendent. The agenda does not record how the board voted on each item.
Under action items, the board took up resignations from Mattea Belanger, part-time custodian; Wayne Lutze, bus driver; Deb Severn, certified instructional aide; and Laura Andres, certified aide.
Hires listed on the agenda were Katrina Higgins as full-time custodian, Isabella Mellish as elementary art teacher, Jen Gross as elementary STEM teacher, Clara Gross as cross country coach through PCMI, and Kevin Cervoni in food service. Three preschool GSRP lead teacher items were listed for Nicole Birchmeier, Megan Roggow and Kim Ryan.
The agenda also included approval of a one-year contract extension for the superintendent, a second reading of Neola Spring 2026 policy updates, the Fall Schedule C, credit cards, and purchases of the Curriculum Associates i-Ready assessment and Amplify's CKLA program.
Finances and annual organization
The monthly financial report on the agenda showed a beginning balance of $3,149,465.42, receipts of $1,371,131.54 and expenditures of $1,422,758.07, leaving an ending balance of $3,097,838.89.
Annual fiscal organization items included designating depositories and legal counsel, an approval covering refunding, sinking fund and bond matters, and approval of the levy on non-homestead properties.
The board also recognized the softball and girls track programs, and heard an ABC report from Drew Severn, a 2025-26 athletic report from Marty Weese and a facilities committee report from the committee's June 22 meeting. A closed session was listed near the end of the agenda.
